My firm serves clients in the legal practice areas of criminal defense, police misconduct, and business litigation. Keith H. Rutman was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Staten Island. He attended Brandeis University, where he obtained his B.A. in Political Science in 1986. He then moved to California and attended the University of San Diego School of Law, graduating in 1989, where he was a member of the Speaker's Bureau. After a one year internship during law school at the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego, he worked for Goldberg & Hall for four years. Mr. Rutman started his own law practice in 1994, specializing in general civil litigation and white collar criminal defense. In 2000 he became chief outside litigation counsel for a San Diego based financial services company. Mr. Rutman has served as lead counsel in over 20 jury trials in both civil and criminal cases. He is admitted to various U.S. District Courts and Courts of Appeal. Mr. Rutman is a member of the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and California Attorneys for Criminal Justice. He serves as a contributing editor/author to the SDCBA’s official publication, San Diego Lawyer Magazine. He is a member of the William B. Enright Inns of Court. He participates in the San Diego County Bar Association "Children at Risk" project.
